Friendly people, very clean rooms, open beamed ceilings, nice neighborhood and you can't beat the price. If I'm ever in this area again will definitely stay here.
I stopped the first night here because the Super8 was right next to the freeway off-ramp and the parking lot was packed with motorcycles (because of the Sturgis Rally I think.) I am very pleased and the nicest couple run the place. It is an older motel, but it is very reasonably priced and very clean. My kind of place. I only give it 3 stars just because I'm sure that there are hotels that deserve a higher number of stars, but then you also pay a higher number of dollars. The rooms also have a microwave and refrigerator -- not something you routinely get in other motel rooms. The high-speed internet is great.
Within 10 minutes of entering room 114 I was wheezing -- a FIRST. We had pulled into town at about midnight and I was too tired to drive on -- so we slept in our car and used the hotel room for it's loo. My daughter elected to change clothes in the car because of the stink of the room, and I decided against a desperately needed shower (we'd been hiking in the Badlands earlier on Saturday) not to try a shower -- all in all this is the worst hotel experience of my life.
This non-chain motel was a great price. My wife and I liked the quiet location. The room was nice and worked well for us. The weather was cold outside, but was nice and warm inside, and it was very clean. There was TV with cable, wifi, refrigerator and microwave. Parking was in front of your door. We have stayed here before and loved it every time. "Try it you'll like it."
The Hillcrest is a health hazard and needs to be torn down.
Nice clean room at a reasonable price.
Stayed here a couple of times, last night was the latest and loved it.
I hate giving the Hillcrest even one star. We were driving home from our road trip vacation with a goal of making it as far as possible -- so this was the one night I hadn't pre-booked a room. After spending two hours looking for a room in Sioux Falls we started into Minnesota -- finding everything booked there as well. One of the major chains suggested a local hotel as a "super clean safe option" on our drive home. I have MILD asthma, I've NEVER had an "asthma attack" (I have a 150 year old farm house, and live in the midst of the woods, so there is no shortage of environmental triggers for asthma in my life.)
